τὰ ἀγοράσματα The goods bought with, or as a set-off to, my money. Hesych. Cf. § 33.

His actual words would be, οὐκ ἂν δυναίμην, μὴ διατιθέμενος τὰ φορτία.

τὸν ῥῶπον ‘the trash,’ ‘the common wares.’ Vilia scruta, Hor. Epist. 17, 65. Aeschylus fragm. Eustath. on Iliad XIII 199, ῥῶπος μέντοι λεπτὸς καὶ ἀτελὴς (qu. Bekker's Anecd. Hesych. S.] Hesych. With this word (μυρεψοῖς) τὸν ῥῶπον well agrees, and § 13 καταλαμβάνομεν πρὁς τοῖς μυροπωλίοις τουτονί. He may have done a small business in perfumery.

κἀκεῖνον ‘And Lampis he ordered to put to sea at once, and said that he himself, so soon as he should (shall) have disposed of his wares, would sail out in another ship.’ We have the subjunctive as expressing a result pending at the time described. [Goodwin's Moods and Tenses § 90, ed. 1889. S.]

διατίθεσθαι precisely our word ‘to dispose of,’ comes naturally from the idea of settling and arranging goods to be kept back or taken away, § 36; Or. 56 § 8. [δια- implies distribution.]
