Ae'schrion

of Syracuse, whose wife Pippa was one of the mistresses of Verres, is frequently mentioned by Cicero in the Verrine Orations. (2.14, 5.12, 31.) He assisted Verres in robbing the Syracusans (2.21), and obtained the farming of the tithes of the Herbitenses for the purpose of plundering them. (3.33.)

In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
