Ae'schylus of ALEXANDRIA

（*Ai)sxu/los), of ALEXANDRIA, an epic poet, who must have lived previous to the end of the second century of our aera, and whom Athenaeus calls a well-informed man. One of his poems bore the title " Amphitryon," and another " Messeniaca." A fragment of the former is preserved in Athenaeus. (xiii. p. 599.) According to Zenobius (5.85), he had also written a work on proverbs. (Περὶ Παροιμιῶν; compare Schneidewin, Praefat. Paroemiogr. p. xi.)

In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
