2. A Greek painter, was contemporary with Apelles (B. C. 332), who yielded to him in arrangement or grouping (cedcbat Amphioni dispositione, Plin. Nat. 25.36.10 : but the reading Amphioni is doubtful : Melaunthio is Brotier's conjecture ; MELANTHIUS).
