Andro'sthenes

（Ἀνδρόσθενης).

1. Of Thasus, one of Alexander's admirals, sailed with Nearchus, and was also sent by Alexander to explore the coast of the Persian gulf. (Strab. xvi. p.766; Arrian, Arr. Anab. 7.20.)

Τῆς Ἰνδικῆς παράπλους

Androsthenes wrote an account of this voyage, and also a Τῆς Ἰνδικῆς παράπλους. (Athen. 3.93b.)

In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
