Maeo'nides

（Μαιόνιδης), properly a son of Maeon, the husband of Dindyme, who was the mother of Cybele, or a native of Maeonia, which was the ancient name of a portion of Lydia, but was also applied to the whole country of Lydia. As Homer was believed by some to have been a native of Lydia, lie is sometimes called Maeonides, or the Maeonian bard. The feminine form of this patronymic, Maeonis, also occurs as a surname of Omphale (Ov. Fast. 2.310), and of Arachne (Ov. Met. 6.103), because both were Lydians.

In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
