Mecon

Μήκων), i. e. a poppy, is said to have been the name of an Athenian whom Demeter loved, and who was metamorphosed into a poppy plant. (Serv. ad Virg. Georg. 1.212; Callim. Hymn. in Cer. 45; Theocrit. vii. in fin.)
