Pro'culus, Ju'lius

1. Is related in the legend of Romulus to have informed the sorrowing Roman people, after the strange departure of their king from the world, that Romulus had descended from heaven and appeared to him, bidding him tell the people to honour him in future as a god under the name of Quirinus. (Liv. 1.16; Ov. Trist. 2.499, &c.; Flor. 1.1; Lactant. 1.15; D. C. 56.46.)

In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
