The'spius

*Qe/spios), a son of Erectheus, who, according to some, founded the town of Thespiae in Boeotia. (Paus. 9.26.4; Diod. 4.29; comp. Schol. ad Hom. Il. 2.948; Apollod. 2.7.8.) His descendants are called Thespiades (Apollod. 2.4.10; Senec. Herc. Oet. 369), which name is also given to the Muses. (Ov. Met. 5.310.)
