[55] A Degenerate son.--Gen. Albert G. Blanchard, of the Confederate Army, is a native of Charlestown, Mass.; was educated at its free schools, and married for his first wife a niece of the late Hon. Benjamin Thompson. His second wife was a native of Louisiana, and hence his secession proclivities. He distinguished himself for bravery in the Mexican war. Several of our merchants were his schoolmates, and a distinguished clergyman of Brooklyn, N. Y., is his son.
