Nelson, Charles Alexander 1839-

Librarian; born in Calais, Me., April 14, 1839; graduated at Harvard College in 1860; quartermaster United States army. 1864-65; appointed Professor of Greek in Drury College in 1879; assistant librarian of Astor Library in 1881; librarian of Howard Library, New Orleans, in 1888; Newberry, Chicago, in 1891; deputy librarian, Columbia University, in 1893 Mr. Nelson is the author of a History of Waltham, and compiled a history of the manuscripts and early printed books of S. B. Duryea; Catalogue of the Astor Library; Catalogue Avery Memorial Library.
