Adair, William P., -1880

Born in 1828. He was one of the chiefs of the Cherokee nation, and during the Civil War he commanded a brigade of Indians which had been organized by Gen. Albert Pike on behalf of the Confederacy. This brigade took part in the battle of Pea Ridge, Ark., in 1862. He died in 1880.
