Campbell's Station

A village in Knox [41] county, Tenn., 12 miles southwest of Knoxville, where on Nov. 16, 1863, the National army under General Burnside was attacked by a Confederate force under General Longstreet. The engagement lasted from noon till dark, and resulted in the defeat of the Confederates. The National force comprised portions of the 9th and 23d Corps, with cavalry.
