Lamont, Daniel Scott 1851-

Statesman; born in Cortlandville, N. Y., Feb. 9, 1851; graduated at Union College; and engaged in journalism. In 1885-89 he was private secretary to President Cleveland, and in 1893-97 was Secretary of War. On retiring from the last office he was elected vice-president of the Northern Pacific Railway Company.
