Affairs at Knoxville.

--Great excitement prevailed in Knoxville, Tenn., on the 8th inst. in anticipation of a row between the soldiers and the Union men. A dispatch says:

‘ The anti-Union party gave the civil authorities thirty minutes time to confine Douglas, or they would lynch him, as he had threatened to take the life of Captain Morgan.

In the meantime a shot was fired from the Lamar House window, mortally wounding Douglas, who was standing in his own window armed, and about to fire on Morgan, who was standing in a very large crowd.

Ball, who was shot on yesterday, is dying.
