The maritime force of Spain.

Events are about to transpire in Mexico, in which several European powers will play an important part.

At the present moment the following list of the maritime forces appears to us exceedingly interesting, as they can and will have to play an important part in the operations soon to take place:

  • Recapitulation.--Two line-of-battle ships, 10 frigates, 4 corvettes, 9 brigs, 16 schooners, 15 smaller vessels, 37 side-wheel steamers, 9 transports.
    There are, besides for coast service, 26 feluccas, 71 gun-boats, and 6 launches.
    The keel has just been laid for the following:
  • In Ferrol.--One liner, 1 frigate, 2 schooners — all screw.
  • In Cadiz.--One frigate, 1 corvette — both screw.
  • In Cartagena.--One frigate, 1 corvette — both screw.
There are also building in England, 45 gun-boats, of great power, and propelled by screws.
