Interesting from Bluffton.
--The Charleston
Courier has been favored with a copy of a private letter, dated November 30th, from an officer at
Bluffton, from which it publishes the following extract:
‘
"Since the
Bull's Island affair the enemy has been keeping very quiet.
Not one of his boats has been seen, and I have reason to believe that his pickets have been drawn in.--The
Yankees have an exaggerated idea of the force that we have at this point.
Some of them told — the other day, that 500 of our men had landed on the
Island and came near capturing
Colonel Ely and about 75 men, who had left the
Island about two hours before our forces landed.
The fact was that we had only 40 men on that occasion.
"We are making plans to bag some of the
Yankee pickets."
