Reported surrender of Messrs. Mason and Slidell.

The following telegram was received in this city yesterday from a reliable source:

‘"Centreville, Dec. 31. --Seward has surrendered Mason and Slidell."’

We ascertained last night that no official information of this report had been received, though it is more likely to be true than otherwise. The abolition administration, having mostly more to attend to on this side of the Atlantic than it can manage, will not hesitate to kiss the paw of the British Lion, if any so doing it can avert the blow which threatens to demolish its own polluted cargoes.
