Police affairs.
--On
Saturday Henry Mann was arrested for drunkenness and trespassing on
Mrs. Hutzier, corner of Main and 18th sts.
Wm. Duesberry was taken up for riotous conduct in the street, and threats to shoot
Julius Wasserman.
The following arrests were made on Sunday:
Daniel, slave to
W. H. Caskie, for stealing coffee and lard.
Thos. De Vallan for assaulting a soldier in Main street with a rock.
James P. Ledger for being drunk in the street.
Fifteen negroes for being in an unlawful assembly in an alley between Main and Franklin streets. The slaves were whipped, and
Wm. Ross and
Tom Logan (free) were sent to Court.--
Jas. Webber was locked up for stealing sundry articles of
wearing apparel from
Jas. McAvoy, and a Catholic Bible, the whole valued at $50.
Wm. Johnson, a free negro, was caged for threatening to shoot
Barnet Scott a fellow darkey.
