City Council.
--An adjourned meeting of this body was held at the City Hall at 5 o'clock Monday evening. Present,
D. P. Saundore,
President, and a quorum.
At ordinance was passed "that if any person his or her dead here or other remain in any street, or a day, or lot in the city more than twelve hours, he or she shall be not less than $5 nor more than $10, and every twelve hours shall be considered a separate offence.

Priman Tyler was elected of the
Second Market, and
J. B. Valentine Weighmaster.
The motion or the ordinance concerning markets was amended so as to read as follows:
"Meat and vegetable stake, benches, and stands at each market shall be rented out annually, at auction of the last day of December, by the
Clerk of the
Market, but no person had occupy a meat stair or beach until he obtain a license from the Council having satisfied the Council as character and capability, and such license may be revoked at the pleasure or the Council for a violation of any of the cranial laws of the
State the ordinances of the city, or for any other cause which is deemed sufficient
Preceded, That whenever the current price of meats shall 25 per pound such meats may be sold by any person or persons at my place or places in the city, without regard to the provisions of this or any other ordinance requiring a and such sales without license may continue for the space of six months notwithstanding the current price of meats may be reduced to or below the minimum stated above"
A committee of the
Richmond Street Railway Company consisting of
Messrs and
Harrison, presented a communication to the Council exhibiting the financial condition of the road, and asking that the company be permitted, until the further order of the Council, to charge a fare of 10 cents. The communication states that the average expenses of running the cars are from three to four times what they were one year ago, and steadily increases, and consequently, that the receipts of the road have not paid its current expenses.
The 6th section of the
Market Ordinance was repealed, and re-enacted as follows:
6. The rent for a bench, stall, or stand, at a market, shall be paid to the
Clerk of such market in advance, for such time (not exceeding truce months) as the committee may direct.
Not more than one stall, bench, or stand, shall be rented to, or occupied by, the same person, at the same time; and a renting shall always be for a year at a time, except in the cases provided for in the following section.
