Mayor's a Court, Saturday, March 7,

--Eliza slave of John Abrahams, was arraigned for examination, charged with attempting to strike Caroline Ganizart with an axe. The complainant had spoken to the girl to reprove her for some omission of duty, when the latter, becoming suddenly enraged, seized the axe and evinced a determination to make short work of the matter. The Mayor said he should endeavor to teach her better manners by means of a whipping, which was ordered accordingly.

Joseph Dickinson and Walter G Here were arraigned for trespassing on the American Hotel and refusing to leave when requested. Two colored females were brought up on the same charge, but the testimony did not make it appear whether the trespass was in conjunction with the white men or not. Dickinson and Hare were required to give security for their good behavior. The colored women were ordered to be thrashed for going where they were neither invited of expected.

Two slaves, named William and Douglas, were charged with stealing a bag of salt, which was found in their possession. They succeeded in establishing their fight to carry it and were let off.

Harry and Dock, two slaves, owned by the city of Richmond, were ordered 39 lashes for stealing fifty dollars worth of meat belonging to Jno. Kaiser, butcher. They hooked it off his stall at the New Market, thinking nobody was watching, but the theft had hardly been perpetrated before they were in limbo.

John Moorhouse, charged with drunkenness and disorderly conduct at the Columbian Tavern, was examined and discharged. Seven other men arrested for getting drunk and exhibiting themselves in that condition in the street were likewise discharged.
