Drowned

--A sailor on board the Confederate States gunboat Beaufort, whose name is believed to have been Frederick Slocum, fell off the deck of that vessel on Tuesday night, while she was in James River, near the lower locks of the deck, and was drawned before assistance could be rendered him. His body was, after a long search yesterday, found lodged against the side of the steamboat West Point, which was hauled up to the boat wharf at Rockette. Coroner Sanxay was notified of the facts, so that an it quest might be held if one was deemed proper.
