Intervention.

The New York World takes, in one sense, the right view of the intervention question. The powers of Europe do not intend that the Union ever shall be restored. Of that Yankeedom may rest assured. They may as well hope to see Jerusalem rebuilt as the old United States restored. We are fully able to hold our own, and we will never submit to any intervention which raises the question of territory. We must have the whole Confederacy. We are able to make our claim good, and we will do it. But were it otherwise the powers of Europe are not going to let Yankeedom subjugate us. Let the World howl over that.
