Runaway.

--Was brought to my jail July 20th, 1863, a negro man named Wace. He says he belongs to John Davis Wikes, of the 6th South Carolina regiment, and came from Chaster, S. C. and has stayed with the army about thirteen months. Said negro is of a dark complexion five feet two inches high, and about twenty-seven years old; has a small scar under his right eye; says that a horse kicked him. The owner will come forward, pay expenses, and take him away.

R. Bert Lumpkin.
