It appears from the United States census for 1860, that the number of foreigners in the States now forming the Confederacy were: Alabama, 12,000, Arkansas, 4,000; Georgia, 11,000; Kentucky, 59,000, Louisiana, 81,000; Mississippi, 8,000; Missouri, 160,000; North Carolina, 3,000; South Carolina, 10,000; Tennessee, 20,000; Texas, 47,000, Virginia, 35,000. Total, 443,000. Total in non-seceding States and Territories, 3,593,000!
