I pass by words of Tuscan,
Sabine and Praenestine origin; for though Lucilius
attacks Vettius for using them, and Pollio reproves
Livy for his lapses into the dialect of Padua, I may be
allowed to regard all such words as of native origin.

Quintilian. With an English Translation. Harold Edgeworth Butler. Cambridge. Cambridge, Mass., Harvard University Press; London, William Heinemann, Ltd. 1920.
