كَمْ ذ : see its syn. كَأَىٍّ or كَأَيِّنْ voce أَىٌّ. ― -b2- As an interrogative with the specification suppressed, What number? How many? and, as in an ex. voce سِقْىٌ, virtually meaning How much? and so in an ex. voce مَسَافَةٌ and voce شَبْرٌ. Also How long? as in the Kur, ii. 161, &c.; a noun signifying a period of time being understood: see also an ex. voce عَسَفَ, and voce فَرَشَ. كَمٌّ ذ and كَمٌ are both app. right: see قَدْ. كِمٌّ ذ The calyx of a flower. (K, &c.) ― -b2- كِمٌّ The envelope [or spathe] of the طَلْع [or spadix of a palm-tree]: and the covering [or calyx] of flowers or blossoms; as also ↓ كِمَامَةٌ . (S, Msb, K.) كُمَّةٌ ذ A قَلَنْسُوَة: (TA in art. بطح:) or a round قلنسوة: (S, K:) pl. كِمَامٌ. (K, * TA in art. بطح.) كِمَامَةٌ ذ : see كِمٌّ. كَمِّيَّةٌ ذ Quantum, or quantity, as answering to “ how many. ” مُكَمَّمٌ ذ Covered over, or concealed (مَسْتُور). (S, art. خصب.) See بُرْأَة. كَمْكَامٌ ذ The cancamum-tree: see بُطْمٌ and ضِرْوٌ.
