      dishes of each course upon the tray (<seg lang="la">ferculum</seg>) and place them in proper
      order. He sometimes carved, though that was properly the function of the <seg lang="la">scissor</seg> (<bibl n="Mart. 10.48" default="NO" valid="yes">Mart.x. 48</bibl>; Lamprid. <title>Elag.</title> 27).
