<p><foreign lang="la">Idem</foreign> (Niemoeller l.c.), older <foreign lang="la">isdem</foreign> (<bibl n="Pl. Am. 3.2" default="NO" valid="yes">Amph. 945</bibl>), is formed
like <foreign lang="la">ibi-dem, itidem,</foreign> etc., by addition of a Particle (cf. <foreign lang="la">demum</foreign>) with
the sense of ‘very’ ‘precise,’ so that <foreign lang="la">is-dem</foreign> means
‘that very’<note anchored="yes" place="unspecified"><foreign lang="la">Is</foreign> without the addition of this Particle sometimes has this function, e.g.

It is usually followed by <foreign lang="la">qui,</foreign> but sometimes by <foreign lang="la">atque</foreign> (see below,
<ref target="c8s2" targOrder="U">VIII. 2</ref>). With suppression of <foreign lang="la">operā</foreign> Ablative
(cf. <cit><quote lang="la">eādem operā</quote> <bibl n="Pl. Capt. 2.3" default="NO" valid="yes">Capt.
450</bibl></cit>, etc., <cit><quote lang="la">unā operā</quote> <bibl n="Ter. Hec. 5.2" default="NO" valid="yes">Ter. Hec. 798</bibl></cit>;
also <cit><bibl n="Pl. Ps. 1.3" default="NO" valid="yes">Pseud. 319</bibl> <quote lang="la">qua opera
credam tibi, una opera alligem fugitivam canem agninis lactibus</quote></cit>）
we find the Adverb <foreign lang="la">eādem,</foreign> used (in Asyndeton normally) with
Fut. or Fut. Perfect, e.g. <cit><bibl n="Pl. Capt. 2.2" default="NO" valid="yes">Capt. 293</bibl> <quote lang="la">sequere hac me igitur: eadem ego
ex hoc quae volo exquisivero</quote></cit> (in <bibl n="Pl. Per. 3.3" default="NO" valid="yes">Pers. 445</bibl> with Fut. Imperative).
