--The editors of the Montgomery Mail have just had an interview with an intelligent and responsible gentleman, who reached here this morning from Pensacola. He says the firing ceased on yesterday afternoon at 7 o'clock. The Navy-Yard was at one time set on fire by the bombs or hot shot from Fort Pickens, but the fire was soon suppressed by the Confederates.--It was reported that the Niagara was badly damaged, and our guns made a breach in the bastion of Fort Pickens.

The firing commenced from Fort Pickens on the Confederate steamer Time, and was replied to by our batteries.

A heavy fire continued on both sides until 7 o'clock last night.

It is reported that two Confederates were killed, and one wounded.

It is also stated that Gen. Bragg was well pleased with the day's work.

--9 o'clock.--The firing on both sides ceased this evening, about 7 o'clock, in consequence of the darkness of the night and a prevailing rain storm. The casualties to-day were four killed and ten wounded of the Confederate forces, and these mostly occurred in Fort McRae. The enemy's firing resulted in but little damage to our men or fortifications.--We are unable to report the loss or damage to the enemy.
