ἀπο-στίλβω , Ep. impf. ἀπεστίλβεσκε Epic. in Arch.Pap.7.7:—
A.to be bright from or with, “ἀποστίλβοντες ἀλείφατος” Od.3.408: c. dat., Lyc.253; “ἐθείραις” AP5.25, cf. Luc.Asin.47: c. gen., “χρυσοῦ” Id.JTr.8, cf. Hipp.6; “φῶς ἀπό τινος” Plot.2.1.7.
2. abs., “φαίνεται τὸ ὕδωρ ἀποστίλβον τῆς νυκτός” phosphorescent, Arist.Mete.370a14; shine brightly, Thphr.Sign.26, Agatharch.95, Luc.DMar.14.2, etc.; ἀκτις “ἀ. εἰς πέλαγος” Alciphr.1.1.
