Subject Description: A young man in a kouros stance (with his left foot advanced), holds his left arm at his side, while he reaches forward with his right hand (held at waist level). His hair is arranged in tight waves on his crown, divided by a taenia from the ringlets that encircle his forehead. He wears a himation over his left arm and shoulder that is wrapped around his right hip. The surface of the himation is characterized by diagonal folds and an upper border that ripples in a zigzag design across his lower torso. Under the himation are two chitons of varying thickness. The top chiton, with short sleeves, has vertical drapery lines, lightly incised, while the bottom chiton, buttons and wrinkles of which are visible on the right arm, clearly suggests a lighter weight material.
Condition: Intact
Condition Description: The statue is largely intact, missing only the right hand, the left lower arm and hand, and the feet; the face is worn, the hem is chipped on the lower left, and some painted details remain on the upper borders of the himation and top chiton.
Material Description: Perhaps Parian marble, according to Brouskari
