A little son of Captain R. L. Lacy fell into a tub of hot water, in Jackson, Tennessee, the other day, and was scalded to death. The editor of the Charleston Courier, on the 9th inst., had a present of a saucer of delicious strawberries, fresh from the vines. General Robert Toombs was in Columbus, Georgia, on the 7th instant.
From Kentucky. Nashville, Jan. 15 --Sleet and snow fell here this morning. Reports from Bowling Green state that the Confederate military Commanders still expect the advance of the Yankees, but the late rains have undoubtedly retarded their operations. The last report received from the Yankee lines was that about 6,000 had crossed Green river at Munfordsville, and are encamped at Rowell's Station, four miles from the bridge. The heavy embankments on the Louisville and Nashville turnpike, near Woodsonville, were blown up on the 7th Inst. A private dispatch received here this afternoon, states that a Federal force is marching on Burkesville to flank Gen. Zollicoffer.--The intelligence is regarded as reliable, and some interest is felt for the safety of Zollicoffer's command, but there is little doubt about his ability and power to drill the Yankees in Bull Run movement.
