Sentenced to be hung. [Special Dispatch to the Richmond Dispatch.] Columbia, S. C., May 6. --Thaddeus W. Sanders, of Richmond, Va., who was convicted of the murder and robbery of Rosalla Legrande at the last Court of Common Pleas, has been sentenced to be hung, and will be executed on the first Friday in June. [Press dispatches]from Northern Virginia. Orange C. H., May 6. --A considerable engagement occurred yesterday about twenty miles below here, near Parker's store, in Spotsylvania county, on the plankroad, between part of Ewell's corps and the 5th corps of Yankee infantry, including Syke's regulars. The engagement lasted fhave arrived here. Gen. J. M. Jones, and Col. Warren, of the 19th Va., were killed, and Gen. Stafford mortally wounded. [Second Dispatch.] Orange C. H., May 6. --The following additional particulars of the fight yesterday have reached this place; Gens. Heth and Wilcox were in the fight of yesterday.--They checked ansiderably. Rosser fought Wilcox's whole division of Yankee cavalry with a single brigade, driving them back at all points. [Third Dispatch.] Orange C. From Western Virginia. Lynchburg, May 6. --The Virginian has information that Averill has concentrated 8,000 cavalry and infantry in Kanawha Valley, with the intention of making a raid on the Salt Works in Washington county.
From North Georgia. Dalton, May 6. --The enemy have been almost at a stand still to-day. They are repairing both railroads as they advance, and have a chain of pickets which renders it impossible to learn what is going on inside.--The enemy's pickets were 11½ miles from Tunnel Hill at 2 o'clock. Gen. Johnston has issued an order granting pardon-to all persons under arrest except those accused of plundering and pilfering.
From Mississippi. Demopolis, May 6. --Information from Mississippi states that the enemy, with ten thousand infantry, two batteries of artillery, and 250 cavalry, all under Gen. McArthur, were advancing towards Yazoo City, and encamped night before last eight miles below Mechanicsburg.
Destructive fire. Macon, Ga., May 6. --A destructive fire occurred in East Macon to-day, which burnt two large cotton warehouses, several other buildings, and about 5,000 bales of cotton. A small amount of cotton belonged to the Government.
