Whatever may be said of the military resources of Virginia in men and arms, in the provision line the State must be pretty well relieved of all its super-abundant supply. We heard from the mountain region a day or two ago, and it was asserted by a man direct from that portion of that State, that within a radius of forty miles of a given spot, no chicken could be beard to crow, whilst every thing else in the way of eatables was completely swept off. Recurring to the case with which we started — it would seem that the importation of the Pet Wolves into this region by Mr. Davis, has been pretty well matched by the Government in the deportation of the Billy Wilson Zouaves to Pensacola, in which region it may be supposed, if they get a chance to explore, they will doubtless rival the exploits of those now in Virginia.--Baltimore American, July 9.

The men ridiculed one another's outre appearance, cheered as they plunged into the clear stream, and raised an echoing chorus of miscellaneous songs. Dixie, Carry me back to Ole Virginny, Gay and happy, Bully for Major Anderson, the Star-spangled Banner, Red, White, and Blue, and as many more were sung wildly in Pennsylvania Dutch, American slang, and ever-rich Milesian accent. Music for the million by the ten thousand was the order of the day, added to which there was occasional music by the band. The train wagons experienced but little difficulty in riding over the hard bed of the river, save one or two which got a little below the ford proper, and narrowly missed being capsized.--Boston Transcript, July 9.
