Reniors — paper currency — Failure of Mails, &c. Lynchburg, Va., Sept. 17. Since my last we have had all kinds of rumores in relation to military matiers in the Western part of the State and elsewhere.--All the reports which we have from the neighborhood of Kanawha, go to prove that severe fighting has taken place in the vicinity of Ganley river, between the forces of General Floyd and Rosencranz, and from what can be learned of Wise, it is more than likely that his forces, too, haye been engaged. Reported engagement. Savannah, Sept. 17. --The Republican, of this morning, says that it was believed at Fort Pulaski on yesterday that an engagement with the Federal fleet at Port Royal fort, on the coast of South Carolina, occurred on yesterday. Heavy firing was distinctly heard at Fort Pulaski.

From Kentucky. Louisville, Sept. 17. --Gen. Zollicoffer is fourteen miles in Kentucky, and is strongly posted at Cumberland Ferry and the Long Mountain. Huston's bill has again been postponed.
Nomination accepted. Augusta, Sept. 17. --The Hon. E. A. Nisbet has accepted the nomination for Governor, tendered him by the People's Convention which recently met at Milledgeville in Georgia.
Suspension of specie payment. Mobile, Sept. 17. --By the request of the Governor of Alabama, the Banks here have suspended specie payments, and will take on deposit and in payment of debts the Confederate Treasury notes at par.
