August 23d, The selectmen were authorized to borrow a sum, not exceeding twenty-five hundred dollars; and to pay a bounty of one hundred dollars to each volunteer for nine months, and ten dollars additional to be paid upon enlistment, and the balance when mustered in. September 20th, The selectmen were empowered to borrow more money, and to petition the Legislature to legalize the votes of the town for raising money for paying bounties. 1863. April 6th, Voted, to raise one thousand dollars to repay borrowed money, and that the same amount be assessed each year until the debt is paid.
