"Maryland."
--A correspondent of the Columbia Guardian recognizes in the popular air of "Maryland, my Maryland," note for note, an old German ditty, to say the least one hundred years old, mostly favored by servants and little children in Germany, especially about Christmas time; for the same tune sings in praise of the pine tree, which latter become at that season the great favorite of all. The German next, best known in the so- called low German, runs thus: "O O green Sind dine Blader."
The music has been claimed as the composition of a Baltimore lady, whose same was with held from the public for prudential reasoned.
