Associated press dispatches.from Washington — the reported insurrection among the negroes — return of Secretary McCulloch. Washington, December 26.
--It is reported that the contemplated insurrection among the negroes in various parts of the South during the holidays appears groundless.
Advices received to-day by the military authorities indicate the most peaceful state of affairs generally South.

--Savannah advices to the 20th instant say that the citizens are forming a regiment in order to clear the city of murderers and robbers.
A mulatto who was formerly expelled from the bar of Boston has been sentenced to one year's imprisonment by the military court for using seditious language.
The Mayor of Mobile has prohibited the steamers and railroads from bringing negroes into that city.
Riot between whites and Blacks in Alexandria. Washington, December 26.
--The Star has a report of a riot in Alexandria between the whites and negroes, in which four of the former and six of the latter are said to have been killed, besides a number wounded.
It is reported that the disturbances lasted until late in the night, and that shooting was going on in various directions.
No particulars other than the above have been received.
The Fenians. Worcester, Mass., December 26.
--Mr. Finnas Senator in the Fenian Brotherhood, declares himself for a congress.
He alleges that the Senators who impeached the President were under arrest five days previous to their act of impeachment.
He says that O'Mahoney must clear himself of thirty charges of complicity with the English Government.
The Government of Mississippi. Washington, December 26.
--The President has relieved Governor Sharkey from the Provisional Government of Mississippi, and has recognized Governor Humphreys as the head of affairs in that State.

General Grant going to the Rio Grande. New York, December 26.
--The Washington correspondent of the Herald reports that Lieutenant-General Grant will leave for the Rio Grande immediately after the holidays in the flag-ship of the Gulf squadron.

--The ship Newton, from New York for Hamburg, went ashore on Nantucket Beach, Sunday night. All hands lost.

Fire in Montreal. Montreal, December 26.
--The Merchants' Exchange building, opposite the Montreal Telegraph Co.'s office, was destroyed by fire last night.
The building was completely gutted.
Death by suffocation. Chicago, December 26.
--A case of suffocation from gas occurred at the Bremen Hotel last Saturday night, resulting in the death of five men.
