He fled to France for killing a man; but, receiving a pardon, returned and settled at Stafford, where he m. Jane, dau. of Richard Needham, of Dorrington. His son John d. 11 Ed. IV. (1471), and had by wife — dau. of R. Middleton — Richard Cradock, merchant of the Staple, who d. in London, 1500. He m. Alice, dau. of John Dorrington, and had, inter alios, Thomas, who d. 1530. This Thomas was father of Thomas, who m. Emma, dau. of Nicholas Meverall, and had William of Caermarthen, 1597. William m. Timothea, dau. of M. Wotten, and had, with others, Francis, (who lived at Wickham Brook, and left issue, Walter, who d. s. p.,) and Mathew, b. 1563, who m. Dorothy Greenway. This Mathew had Mathew, our patron, and Samuel, clerk at Thistleton, co. Rutland. Mathew m., 1st, Damaris, dau. of Richard Winne, by whom he had Damaris, bap. Nov. 1, 1623; and, 2d, Rebecca, dau.<
