He was associated in business with his brother John, and also carried on the trade of a tanner; he bought land of Stephen Willis, to be used as a tanyard. He was at first a housewright, but afterwards went into business with his brother. He owned much property in Medford; and his oldest son, John, having removed to Bedford, he resided there chiefly in his old age, and was so liberal a benefactor to the church as to be mentioned with gratitude on the records
