January 15, 1738. ON December 14, 1737, William Browne, Deacon William Brown was much respected, and intrusted very often with Municipal and Church affairs of Watertown and Waltham.—Bond. Daniel Benjamin, Daniel Benjamin, Jr., trader, was a Selectman of Watertown 1735, '36, and '37; Selectman of Waltham, 1748, '39, '40, '42; Assessor many times from 1738 to 1752.—Bond. and Samuel Livermore, in the Behalf of themselves, and other Inhabitants of the West Precinct in Watertown, presentes read a third Time and pass'd to be Engross'd on December 22d. On the last day of the month the engrossed Bill was passed to be enacted, and on the afternoon of January 4, 1737-8, This date being Old Style, the addition of 11 days gives January 15, 1738, as the date New Style of the incorporation of Waltham. His Excellency the Governour, J. Belcher, was pleased to give His Confent to the Enacting the Bill, and in the record the name Waltham of the new town is printed for the first time on t
