anced school. The teachers in this first school-house were all college graduates, as well as most of those in the second building. This statement is made with positiveness, though the evidence is wholly by inference. The men who taught our school bore the same name as graduates of Harvard College of about the same date, and, as several of these are a little unusual, it seems fair to infer that they were the same person. A John Feveryear taught the town school from September, 1752, to April, 1753, and a John Feveryear was a graduate of Harvard in 1751; naturally we infer they were one and the same person. Christopher Bridge Marsh was graduated from Harvard in 1761, and a man of the same name was a teacher in Medford from March, 1762, to January, 1763. A glance at the list of teachers from 1732 to about 1792 will show several such instances.
