This advice was promptly rejected by the imperative Earl of Egremont, Secretary of State to Lords of Trade, 14 July, 1763. who insisted on including in the new province all the great lakes and all the Ohio valley to the Mississippi; but Shelburne Lords of Trade to the Secretary Earl of State, 5 August, 1763. resolutely enforced his opinion, which, for the time, prevailed, Secretary of State to the Lords of Trade, 19 September, 1763: His Majesty is pleased to lay aside the idea of including within the government of Canada the lands which are to be reserved, for the present, for the use of the Indians.
