Johnston, Alexander -1889
Historian; born
William Samuel Johnson. in Brooklyn, N. Y., April 2, 1849; graduated at Rutgers College, studied law, and became a few years later Professor of Jurisprudence and Political Economy in Princeton University.
His contributions to American history were valuable.
They include a History of American politics, histories of Connecticut and the United States, the political articles in Lalor's Cyclopaedia of political Science, and the political sketch under the article United States in the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
He died in Princeton, N. J., July 20, 1889.
