Kirchhoff, Charles William 1854-
Engineer; born in San Francisco, Cal., March 28, 1854; graduated at the Royal School of Mines, Clausthal, Germany, in 1874.
Returning to the United States he was chemist of the Delaware Lead Refinery in Philadelphia in 1874-79; managing editor of the Engineering and mining journal in 1883-86; and for several years was connected with The iron age, of which he became editor-in-chief in 1899.
Since 1883 he has been special agent of the United States Geological Survey for the collection of statistics of the production of lead, copper, and zinc.
He was president of the American Institute of Mining Engineers in 1898-99.
