St. Clair, who stands charged with having, on the 14th day of January, 1863, at the said city, feloniously forged a certain paper writing in the words and figures following: "Richmond, Jan. 14, 1863 "As my daughter wishes to get married to Mr. A. W. St. Clair, I hereby certify that she has my approbatiJan. 14, 1863 "As my daughter wishes to get married to Mr. A. W. St. Clair, I hereby certify that she has my approbation. In witness whereof I sign my name. Her mother: Mrs. Fanny Mathias." St. Clair did obtain from the Clerk of the Richmond Hustings Court a license to be united in the holy bonds of matrimony with the said Fanny Mathias, without the knowledge and consent of her mother, and was so united on s
