spoke to the resolution, and others stated that the want of a definite location of the site retards the collection of subscriptions therefor. The resolution was adopted. Evening session. The veterans re-assembled at 6 P. M., when the Committee on Resolutions reported the following, which was adopted: Resolved, That the Association most heartily endorse the recommendation of the Southern Press Association, that public meetings be held in every town and hamlet of the South, on June 18, 1891, for the purpose of raising funds to build a monument to the memory of our late chieftain, Jefferson Davis. New Orleans was fixed on as the place, and April 8, 1892, as the time for the next annual meeting of this organization. General Gordon offered the following resolution (General Cabell in the chair): Resolved, That a committee of one from each of the Southwestern States be appointed, who shall have the power to consider what plan, or plans, if any, can be adopted for aidin
