meeting of the City Council was held yesterday afternoon at four o'clock, the following members being present: Messrs. Grattan (President,) Stokes.
Clopton, Epps, Lee, Griffin, Burr Scott, Richardson.
Tardy, Crutchfield.
Lancaster, Glazebrook, Smith and Millspaugh.
Mr. Lee moved that Mr. Garrett be permitted to make a statement, and leave being granted that gentleman produced a memorandum for a quantity of liquor destroyed by order of the Council, in his store, on the night of the 2d of April belonging to Messrs. Brand Edwards &Dunlavy, and wished a receipt for the same.
It having been shown that a proper certificate that the liquor was destroyed was necessary, no action was taken upon the application.
The Council then proceeded to make the following elections:
Clerks of the Markets — S. H. Ellis, J. P. Tyler.
Weigh --Thomas Diddep, J. P. Tyler John J. Crutchfield.
Messenger of Council — William J. Epps.
