Mr. William Patrick was thereupon promptly released from custody by direction of the Secretary of State.--This release occurred on the 13th day of September last. On the second day of September the Superintendent of Police in the city of New York informed the Secretary of State, by telegraph, that he had under arrest J. C. Rahming, who had just arrived from Nassau, where he had attempted to induce the owners of the schr. Arcticina, for the use of the rebels, and inquired what he should do with the prisoner. J. C. Rahming was thereupon committed into military custody at Fort Lafayette, under a mandate from the Secretary of State. This commitment was made on the 2d day of September. On the 17th of that month this prisoner, after due inquiry, was released from custody on his executing a bond in the penalty of $2,500, with a condition that he should thereafter bear true allegiance to the United States, and do no act hos

On the 3d, while at dinner near the fork of the Albuquerque and Fort Union roads, 86 miles from Fort Stanton, they were suddenly surrounded by 30 or 40 Indians, supposed to be Kiowas, After four hours hard fighting, three or the Americans were killed, and the fourth, Sergeant T. A. Saunders, succeeded in making his escape, having a very fast horse. The names of those killed are Jas. Emmencher, Jas. Mosses, and T. C. Pemberton, all of Lavaca county, Texas. Runaway in Jail. --Was committed to the Jail of the county of Hanover, on the 2d day of September last, as a runaway, a Negro Bey, calling himself Levi Bruington, who claims to be free. the said Negro is of a dark complexion, and is about 5 feet 9 inches high, and is about 18 years of age, has a scar on right wrist and leg. The said Negro had on when committed a pair of brown Jeans pants and shirt, and a military cap, and is supposed to have escaped from some military company. The owner of said Negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take him away, else he will be dealt with as the law directs. C. S.
